Yes, it’s true that massage is good for your health. Many health agencies actually cover certain types of massage as a pain reliever for people with persistent joint and muscle problems.
But there’s another good reason for getting a massage: Just because. Sometimes it’s difficult for someone who feels reasonably healthy, who’s not overly stressed to feel comfortable treating themselves to a nice relaxing massage, but why not? Everyone deserves pampering once in a while.
Consider it a treat, or a present to yourself for whatever – dealing with the kids on a particularly bad day, staying up late finishing that report for work, not eating that extra slice of chocolate cake even though you really wanted to. Why not? You deserve it.
The point is, everyone gets run down once in a while, and it’s nice to do something nice for yourself for no other reason than that it makes you feel good. We often do a lot in life because we have to, or because it needs to get done, like go to work, clean the house, help the kids with their homework. So why not do something not because you have to, but because you want to?
You don’t need to be on a luxurious vacation. You don’t need to wait until someone grants you with a gift certificate for your birthday. Just go out and do it. Why? Because it will make you happy. Because it will make you smile. Because it will make your day better and brighter. Because you’ll be a better person afterwards. Or, quite simply, because you deserve it!
